Looks great! We need more racing games on WiiWare!
Looking good. Now waiting for trailer =)
p.s. I hope you will add shadows, world looks too flat =(
Shadows – we wanted to – but the way we build the worlds (using a block based track editor) we couldn’t use the usual approach to shadows (vertex shading or surface baking). All blocks can be rotated or mirrored – as soon as they are the shadows would look wrong. RT shadows for the world are out too as we are drawing too many polys
Will there be a DSiWare version also?
Also, can we see a video of gameplay?
Gameplay videos will be added soon; hopefully this week.
We are currently planning a DSiWare version – but it won’t be until we complete the PSP & iPhone versions.
This game looks really fun and well made! I look forward to it’s WiiWare release. Hope it will be soon.
Also, as for the shadows mentioned earlier, how about simply drawing shadows on the textures and then rotate the textures to fit before they are applied and drawn? I don’t know how you handle textures, but if they are full images, you could simply draw part of the image a bit darker and if they are tiles, you could have darker tiles to put where the shadows will fall. Then if the editor finds, for example, a tall building block on the left side of the road, it would draw shadowed textures on the left side of that road.
But perhaps something like this could work, and it would make an already nice looking game even nicer.
I am probably out of my league here, I only program 2D games.
Anyway, good luck finishing and releasing the game!
Something along those lines may well work, but we are pretty tight on texture space now. The main thing is though that we have our Gold Master date this coming Friday (7th August), so development work has stopped now and we’re just on final testing/fixing.
7th August? yay cant wait for this game, I would use my Wii points for it for sure.
good job guys!
I have no idea, but hopefuly soon.
We’ve submitted to Nintendo now – it’s now a case of passing final LOT check with N.
Hey guys. The game looks pretty cool. Any idea when the release will be ?
Soon-ish. At the moment we are still in the Nintendo LotCheck process, which takes a few weeks. Once we get the final approval it should hit the WiiShop Channel fairly quickly.
The game looks pretty decent & it looks much better than Build’n race (although this a Wiiware)
Awesome job guys, keep going! hope to see more.
I’m waiting for the game soon.
Wii lover~
@Rich This is the first racing game since Mario Kart Wii to get my attention. I give you guys Kudos because I am extremely picky about games in general. I think it looks pretty awesome for a WiiWare game. Tell Nintendo to hurry so we can get our hands on it
God I cannot wait for this. This game looks awesome. I have never looked forward to WiiWare games until now.
Cheers guys
We’ll be running a competition shortly (once Lotcheck is complete) for free copies. Watch this space…
Oh god This game looks so awesome, it looks like it will be the best wiiware racing game of 2009, I cannot wait, when is the release date btw? It’s already november, What now?
Any word on how the PSP version is coming along? This is the mini I’m most looking forward to
Coming along very well – we should have some info to show very soon…
Yay! We have Lotcheck approval for North America now
Just waiting on Europe.
@Rich:
Well how much does lotcheck take?
Too long
BUT… NOA approved, and we’re hoping NOE too. I’ll keep you posted…
Yes! We have a release slot (North America) – hopefully NOE will follow soon.
To quote:
“NOA will release your game Stunt Cars on 12/14/09 with the price at 800 Wii Points.”
Will the recent development about minis soon being playable on the PS3 affect that version any? At least one mini was apparently delayed because of it – sounds like Sony needs to tweak their emulator a bit for each game, like how BC works on the 360.
hope this game will get NOE approved soon.
How much Wii pointswill it cost?
We now have NOE approval, and may just scrape through with a pre-Christmas release date.
It will be priced at 800 Wii points.
Is it just me or did you use the same graphic engine from Build ‘n Race into Stunt Cars.
All of our games use the same base engine; which currently runs on Wii, PSP & PC.
We have an iPhone version of the engine in development.
With each game though we add to it, and refine it as necessary.
please make a version to android!
Any chance of a Wii Ware demo?
Thank you.
when will the psp version be released in the US….. cant wait to play this….
thanks
Hmmm, after the Wii reviews, maybe it’s a good thing the PSP version is delayed. Saved me $8
